Why should I use a disc jockey entertainment service instead of a live
band?
Disc Jockeys have been gaining in popularity as dance entertainment over the
years. A good Disc Jockey comes equipped with thousands of songs spanning several
decades and a variety of musical tastes. Bands have clear limitations in the
number of songs and variety of music they can offer. The ability to play music,
continuously without breaks, from their selection of original dance songs, is
the primary reason Disc Jockeys are far more popular when it comes to entertaining
the variety of ages that often are present at an event. Why? Because people
like to dance to the music they are familiar with. We play the original versions
of your favorite music. Also, a DJ service can tailor the sound level much easier
than a live band can. We will reduce the volume level during cocktails and meals
to allow your guests to chat comfortably; music will typically be played somewhat
louder during dancing, but this is completely at your discretion. Finally, Disc
Jockeys are usually less expensive than bands; often half the cost.
Why do you want contact names and phone numbers of the
caterer, photographer, etc.?
Receptions do not run smoothly by accident. Planning and coordination is required
between all members of the party team. We will coordinate all party events with
the other party professionals on your team, both before and during the party,
in order to insure a smooth and enjoyable affair.
What music will you play at my event?
The music we play will vary depending on the event and the crowd and what you
want. We carry a huge music collection covering hits from the 1940's through
the 2002, and our music collection is constantly updated. We mix up the music
and read the crowd to make sure we keep everyone dancing and entertained. We
also hope that you will allow us to play requests from your guests. To see examples

Are you willing to discuss musical selections ahead of time, and
will you play requests, particularly if they are suitable for dancing?
We have extensive experience with different types of events and crowds, but
we know that we cannot possible know everything there is to know about your
musical preferences and entertainment needs. We want to hear your ideas and
suggestions. We want to know the songs that you want to hear and the songs that
you do not want played. Since we have a large music collection, we have most
common requests. However, if you give us an advance request for music that we
do not have, we will try to buy it in time for your affair. We do this at no
additional charge, but we do reserve the right to limit the number of selections
that you ask us to buy specifically for your party. Finally, we are happy to
play music from CDs, records, or tapes that you or your guests loan to us.
Do you use professional equipment?
There is a difference between the audio equipment you have at home and the equipment a
professional Disc Jockey uses. Professional audio equipment is built to go on the road day
in and day out. Our equipment is top of the line manufactured by companies such as Dennon,
Numark, Cerwin-Vega, and American DJ.
Will your arrive on time & specify a set up time?
Punctuality is an ultimate necessity, and in our 16 years of experience, we
have never been late to a job. We always allow more than enough travel and set
up time to make up for unexpected problems, whether it be traffic, or needing
to help set up chairs that have not been set up. Our set up time is generally
one hour prior to the event.
How much will the day cost?
Please feel free to shop around, but do not go for the bottom line. There are
bargain basement Entertainment services out there and there are Entertainment
services where you get more than your money's worth.
Are there other charges are involved?
The price you are quoted is the price you pay, unless you ask your Disc Jockey to stay
later than contracted for.
Do you require a deposit?
We do not normally require a deposit. Under circumstance when we may have to rent
special equipment, provide party favors, or buy special music, we may require a deposit
about a month before your event.
Do you charge for travel?
Only if the party is more than 30 miles your disc jockey's home. If so, we
charge 35 cents per mile over the first 60 miles round-trip.
What happens in the case of cancellation or postponement?
If your event date has changed, we will do the best that we can to accommodate
it. If this is the case, please be sure to let us know the new date as soon
as possible.
How much do you help to coordinate events?
We have found over the years that many events need a little guidance. We will be
involved in the planning of your event as much as you want. We will coordinate with your
caterer, photographer, etc. to insure that your event runs as smooth as it possibly can.
From scheduling your introductions to your farewell dance. All of your entertainment
concerns will be handled in the most professional manner. We are prepared to handle all
announcements and special events on the day of your event.
Do you take breaks?
No. We do not wish to breakup the flow of the music unless appropriate.
Do you put on a show?
No. That does not mean that we will not interact with your guests, but what
we do and say is meant to draw attention to the attendants, not the Entertainers.
We feel that you have spent an awful lot of time in your planning for this day,
and you do not need us to distract from the mood that you have set. On the other
hand, if that is what you want, we are sure that we can make arrangements to
help you out
What kind of a special effects lighting system do you have?
We have many special-effects lighting system that will be tailored to your
event. Whether you are looking for simple, moderate dance lighting for a small private
party or a wedding, or if you would like circus of special-effects dance lighting, we have
what you need to make your event a success.
Should we invite the disc jockey to eat? We do not require you to provide
a meal for our staff.
What about extras-party props, prizes, giveaways, party dancers? All
of these add to the energy and excitement of your reception. All are available
for an additional cost.
